Twelve months after our first show as an acoustic ensemble we present the first album in this format, on Sydney label Art As Catharsis. ‘Ensemble’ features more than 60 minutes of original music across three long compositions. It was recorded in one day at Campbelltown Arts Centre during our recent residency there. The album is available now. We are playing a few launch shows, and we hope to see you there:

We are very excited to announce an artist residency we have at Cambelltown Arts Centre from 28 September until 02 October 2015. Building on score sketches and sonic concepts by Jochen, a new piece will be developed through collaborative experiments with sounds, instrumentation and technology. We will present the new composition on the last day of the residency. Please come along and see what we’ve been up to.

Following these gigs, the ensemble will enter into an intense composer residency at Campbelltown Arts Centre.
The Hinterlandt Ensemble plays at the wonderful Glebe Town Hall in Sydney on Sunday 22 March 2015, along with acclaimed violinist Daniel Weltlinger and turntablist Morphingaz. Please join us at 5pm for a relaxed Sunday afternoon of left-of-chamber music. Tickets are $16 from Mosthtix or $20 on the door.

Hinterlandt: Alltagswelt (Movement 5)
Hinterlandt is entering into a new phase: the Hinterlandt Ensemble is dedicated to an acoustic sound aesthetic. The group features Bronwyn Cumbo and Stephanie Zarka on violins, Simeon Johnson on cello, and Jochen Gutsch on acoustic guitar and trumpet. The ensemble is performing original material composed by Jochen, brought to life by the players with their own artistic personalities.
